CI CURRICULUM BUILDER

Design a rigorous Competitive Intelligence course — or a corporate CI training programme — in minutes, built on the empirically validated CI Body of Knowledge.

What it is

The CI Curriculum Builder is the operational output of the Council of CI Fellows – Education Committee's mission to establish universal educational standards for Competitive Intelligence. It turns the CI Body of Knowledge (BoK) into ready-to-teach curricula and corporate training programs — in seconds, with reproducible structure.

Describe your course in plain language — audience, duration, focus. A deterministic engine selects the right topics from the 143-concept BoK and applies the CI Fellows-prescribed Bloom's levels for your audience, guaranteeing reproducible coverage. An LLM then drafts the narrative around that fixed structure: same request, same curriculum, every time.

Collective Excellence

Design teaching curricula aligned to standards — a Scholarly Syllabus built on Understanding by Design, with instructor and student-facing versions.

Educators

Produce structured in-house training programs built on ADDIE, Kirkpatrick's Four Levels, and Mager performance objectives.

L&D & Organisations

Researchers

A validated, citable base for CI education research and development.
A foundation for thought leadership, certification, and professional standards worldwide.

The CI Profession

The science underneath

Built on the 5Ps model of Competitive Intelligence (Madureira et al., 2021).

Empirically validated by 61 experts across five continents(Madureira et al., 2023).

Every curriculum covers the five dimensions of CI:

PURPOSE

PURVIEW

PRACTICE

PROCESS

PRODUCT

Foundational grounding: The 5Ps CI Model, the 143-concept CI Body of Knowledge, Bloom's Taxonomy, Understanding by Design (Wiggins & McTighe), Kirkpatrick's Four Levels, and Mager Performance Objectives — integrated in one tool.

How to use it properly

This is a structured starting point.

Sequencing, classroom activities, and assessment specifics require instructional adaptation to your context and learner cohort.

Guidance,
not a finished syllabus

The Builder provides guidance — it does not produce a turn-key syllabus.

Adapt the topics, sequencing, and hours to your course, your learners, and your time budget.

The generated duration is a recommendation: if it exceeds the time you have, keep the core topics and trim the rest.

The teaching story
— the 5Ps arc

Every generated curriculum is sequenced as a story:
* start with the Why (Purpose — why CI exists and what it delivers),
* establish the Where (Purview — the competitive environment being watched),
* then move through Practice (how the CI function is organised),
* Process (the 8-stage CI cycle),
* and close with the Product (the intelligence outputs).

Whatever your course length, cover all five dimensions — even if one gets five minutes and another gets ten hours.

The BoK Explorer
is your glossary

Every topic in a generated curriculum is drawn from the 143-concept CI Body of Knowledge.

Full definitions, hierarchy, and references live in the Cuuriculum Builder BoK Explorer (tab) — use it as the canonical glossary while you build your course.

Bloom's Taxonomy — a 60-second primer

LEVEL WHAT IT MEANS IN CI TERMS

1 - REMEMBER Recall CI facts and basic concepts (define, list, identify)

2 - UNDERSTAND Explain CI ideas and concepts (classify, describe, discuss)

3 - APPLY Use CI knowledge in new situations (execute, implement, demonstrate)

4 - ANALYSE Draw connections among CI evidence (differentiate, examine, test)

5 - EVALUATE Justify an intelligence judgement or decision (appraise, critique, defend)

5 - CREATE Produce new or original CI work (design, formulate, develop)

Bloom's levels are prescribed by the CI Fellows per audience type — the same concept is taught at a lower cognitive level for a certificate cohort than for a doctoral one. That is why the level shown for each topic changes with the audience you select.

Scope of this version

This version covers CI Science globally.
More specific methodologies and disciplines — such as Business War Games and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) — will be covered in the next iteration.
